Vienna International Summer School on Oncology for Medical Students

All applicants with complete applications will receive a notification about their acceptance status within a week of the deadline.

In order to reserve your spot for the VSOO 2025, you are required to pay the attendance fee within one week of acceptance. Please follow the instructions on our website or contact us via email with any questions at vsso@meduniwien.ac.at.

We are expecting 30-35 medical students from around the world with complete application documents to be accepted to the VSSO 2025.

The fee for this year's VSSO is 700 Euros. The fee covers the expenses the summer school and accommodation. Travel costs to and from the summer school location (Medical University of Vienna) will NOT be covered.

Two students with exceptional applications will be awarded a full scholarship covering the attendance fee of the VSSO 2025. For this, all applications will be considered. The two selected students will be notified per email about their scholarship award.

If you are required to apply for a VISA to enter Austria for the VSSO 2025, we will send you an official invitation to the summer school which you can present along with your online VISA application. Students are advised to begin the application process in a timely manner in order to prevent unforeseen problems with their VISA application!

Yes. All students attending the entire duration of the VSSO 2025 will receive the lecture content after the termination of the summer school.

Yes. All students who have successfully completed the summer school will receive an official certficate of attendance. Students must be present the entire duration of the summer school in order to successfully obtain a certificate.

No. The VSSO organizing committee will provide accommodation for all accepted students. Details about lodging will be communicated with students prior to the commencement of the VSSO 2025.

All accepted students will receive an email including details about lodging before the commencement of the VSSO 2025.

The VSSO 2025 will be held at the Medical University of Vienna in conjunction with the AKH (hospital).

No. Students must organize their trips to and from the VSSO 2025 themselves. However, the organizing committee is available to answer questions under vsso@meduniwien.ac.at.

Students are advised to fly to Vienna International Airport, 1300 Schwechat, Vienna, Austria.

No. In order to receive an official attendance certificate of the VSSO 2025, students must be present for the entire summer school. Students are therefore not allowed to leave Vienna during the summer school (this includes weekend trips). Please plan to visit other countries outside of the summer school times.

If you have any dietary restrictions, please inform us per email so we can try to accommodate you. We will send out an inquiry to all students before the summer school commences.

Laptop or notebook, chargers, toilettries, etc.

Since this summer school will take place at the Medical University of Vienna, with practical sessions held in the hospital, all students are required to dress appropriatly. Among other events, there will be some formal events. For this, please dress business casual. In general dress code is casual, casual chic, and you should feel free and comfortable!
