Progress through research

The scientific goal of the CCC is to improve our understanding of the mechanisms of cancer development. We use the knowledge derived from this for new strategies in the field of prevention, diagnostics and therapy efficiently and directly for our patients.

Main research areas

In order to be able to pursue this goal in a results-oriented and structured manner, we have divided our scientific activities into two research areas: Basic and Translational Research and Clinical Research.

The aim of the clusters is to research the mechanisms that lead to the development of oncological diseases. The CCC research clusters include clinical scientists and basic researchers who are active in cancer research.

The aim of the interdisciplinary CCC units is to network and bundle all oncological activities in different clinical areas. This ensures the best possible interdisciplinary patient care and clinical-translational research as well as teaching at the highest academic level.

The CCC Platforms bring together oncology technologies and know-how.
There are currently seven CCC Platforms.

At the CCC, research projects are carried out in accordance with the guidelines of the Medical University of Vienna on ethics in science and research (Good Scientific Practice).
